Sunderland AFC today confirmed that the Durham County FA Frank Pattison Challenge Cup final will no longer take place at the Stadium of Light.
Initially scheduled to be played on Tuesday, 14 April, the fixture will now be moved to another venue due to the Sunderland Under-21s’ progression to the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup.
Supporters who purchased tickets for the fixture will be refunded via the original payment source by Tuesday, 14 April.
John Topping CEO, Durham County FA stated ‘we are very disappointed that we have been informed that the Final cannot be played at the Stadium of Light and we are in the process of securing a venue for the game to be played on the same date. We realise that this will be a great disappointment to players, officials and supporters of both Shildon AFC and Stockton Town FC and it is hoped that a new venue will be confirmed as soon as possible.’
