Man of the Match – Jack Leighton
The Shildon AFC Under 8’s were at home to Newton Aycliffe Youth, and the lads were determined to get a win after last weeks tough game. They applied the pressure straight away but some solid defending by the opposition stopped them from getting a goal in the first half. As the half time whistle blew the lads were trailing by 2 goals to none.
As soon as the second half began the lads picked up the pace and some excellent passing allowed Jack Leighton to get Shildon on the score board. Shortly after Jack got his second goal. The Shildon defence worked brilliantly to prevent Aycliffe Youth from scoring, they had very few chances at goal in the second half. With five minutes to go Jake Sharp scored, putting Shildon in the lead. As the full time was called the score was Shildon AFC 3 – Newton Aycliffe Youth 2.
For the friendly, Shildon played some great football yet again. They passed the ball better than ever and had a number of shots at goal saved by Aycliffe’s keeper. Jack Leighton found the back of the net twice. The final score was Shildon AFC 2 – Newton Aycliffe 2. Jake Sharp was given the man of the match trophy for a brilliant performance.

Middleton Rangers 5 0 SHILDON
Man of the Match – Kai Chadwick
The U9’s travelled to Middleton Rangers this week and showed they are beginning to see the improvements from the hard work they put into training and in games. By the opposition manager’s admission, the score line flattered Middleton and wasn’t a true reflection on the team. It is fair to say that if Shildon played this team three or four weeks ago they would been beaten by a big margin. Good times are ahead for this small squad of players who never give up. Kai Chadwick received the mom award who has trained hard since joining the team and got his reward today.
The second game finished 2 -1 to Middleton. Anth Jary scored Shildon’s goal. New signing James Douthwaite received the mom award who showed real potential in his first outing for Shildon.

SHILDON 2 0 Seaton Carew Tigers
Scorers – Kane Hopwood (2)
Man of the match – Ellie Geary
Shildon started off confidently in the first half with heavy pressure put on the away side. Shots from Shildon’s forward and midfield players were on target but with a stout defence and blocks the score remained 0-0 at half time. The start of the second half was much the same with Shildon pressing heavily. After 6mins the pressure finally told as Kane Hopwood scored with a powerful right foot shot. With 4mins remaining Kane scored again to wrap up the points. A good performance by all Shildon players on a very wet and windy pitch!!

Darlington All Stars 0 3 SHILDON
Scorers – Jack Mortimer (2) Kieran Green (1)
Man of the match – Ethan Smith
Shildon travelled to Darlington All Stars and recorded their first victory of the season. From the first whistle, the team were on the front foot, and created a number of chances. Jack Mortimer, who had a superb game, had 2 good efforts on goal before Kieran Green put the team ahead with a fine finish. More pressure followed with Tom Andelin hitting the bar. Just before half time, Jack Mortimer doubled the score with a good finish just inside the left hand post.
The early stages of the second half saw All Stars put some pressure on the Shildon defence, but looking more organised, they withstood the attacks, with good tackling and safe goalkeeping. At the other end, Shildon had more chances, with Jack Mortimer heading in his second of the match following a good cross from Tom Andelin. More attacks followed, and the woodwork saved All Stars on 3 occasions. Jack Mortimer also had the chance for his hat trick, but put a penalty just wide of the post.
A great result with the whole team playing their part.
