Match Report

A Dreadful Game to Watch

Shildon AFC travelled to 2nd Division side Norton & Stockton Ancients on Wednesday 30th October 2013 in the 1st Round of the Durham Challenge Cup and the unlucky crowd witnessed the worst game of football possible. It was goalless after 90 minutes and goalless after extra time. Thank goodness it went to penalties, which made up for the rest of the evening. Shildon finally won the shoot-out 7 -6 thank to Shildon’s star man keeper Keith Finch.

Shildon nearly scored in the 1st minute when Lee Kerr’s shot was touched onto the bar by keeper David Knight. Apart from a Lee Scroggin’s shot blocked nothing else happened in the first half. The 2nd half wasn’t any better either. New signing from Consett Nathan Jameson hit the post and Lee Kerr hit the bar. Extra time didn’t produce a goal. Although Shildon were the far better side on the night they lacked someone in midfield to control the game.

Final Score: 0 – 0. Shildon won 7 – 6 on penalties

Subs:  Stephenson for Richardson 46, Buzzeo for Turnbull 69.

Bookings:  (Y) Craddock 63.

Man-of-the-Match:  Keith Finch.

A game which will be remembered  for the wrong reason. It was the worst game of football this season,.
