Shildon AFC are Top of the League
Shildon AFC went back to top of the league after a 0 – 2 away win on Saturday 11th January 2014 at Consett.
The league title is still wide open, with 4 or 5 clubs all capable of becoming champions. At this moment in time, West Auckland look favourites, but a lot can happen before the end of the season.
The first half was an evenly matched affair, but just before the interval Shildon’s Paul Connor was clean through but unusually for him he blasted over.
Half Time Consett 0 Shildon AFC 0
Shildon played much better in the 2nd half and scored an early goal after a 4 man class move was finished off by No 9 Paul Connor.
Immediately after, Consett’s Craig Robson fired in from 5 yards out but Darren Craddock made a brilliant block on the line.
On 76 minutes Connor was through again, but he hesitated and keeper Elliott saved with his feet.
A minute later Shildon went 2 – 0 up when Sam Garvie found Ben Wood who drove the ball passed two defenders into the left side of the net.
