Shildon Still Top
Shildon AFC continued their good form on Saturday 18th January 2014 with a good 2 – 1 victory at Whitley Bay. This was Shildon’s 7th win in a row, keeping them top of the league.
The Railwaymen took control of the game from the kick off and Bay had to defend most of the half.
Just after the half hour Billy Greulich-Smith hit the bar, then shortly after Shildon finally got their reward for all their possession when Sam Garvie found Ben Wood who cracked the ball home.
Just before the break, after numerous corners, one after another, it was 2 – 0 when Billy Greulich-Smith fired through a crowded penalty box.

Bay got off to a perfect start in the 2nd half scoring in the first minute when No 11 Jarrett Rivers also fired through a crowded box
The goal spurred Bay on, and they came more into the game. Nevertheless, on the hour Shildon’s Greulich-Smith missed an easy opportunity with only the keeper to beat.
On 82 minutes Greulich-Smith challenged keeper Richard Harley who blocking his kick. The ball went to Sam Garvie, but he also missed a good chance to score.
