A Rare 0 – 0 Score-line
Shildon AFC were at home on Saturday 11th October 2014 to Stourbridge FC from the West Midlands in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the F.A. Cup.
With neither side able to find the net, a very rare 0 – 0 score-line means a replay on Tuesday 14th October, something the Railwaymen didn’t want, as Stourbridge is nearly 200 miles from Shildon and even further for most of Shildon’s players who nearly all live north of Shildon. It will mean a 5 hour journey sitting on a coach for most of them.
Early pressure from Stourbridge saw danger man Kayelden Brown fire across the goal, before he was thwarted by a brilliant block by Shildon’s keeper Kyle Hayes. On 36 minutes Shildon’s Micky Rae cross come shot hit the bar and bounced out. Just before the break captain Ben Billingham’s long range drive was tipped over by Shildon’s keeper Kyle Hayes.
Half Time: Shildon AFC 0 Stourbridge 0
The Railwaymen came more into the game in the 2nd half playing the long ball up field. Straight from the kick off Ben Wood was through but fired wide. Then a Lee Scroggins header was tipped over, before Ben Wood beat two defenders but again fired over. On 79 minutes a pile-driver from Daniel Moore was punched away by Stourbridge star man keeper Dean Coleman. Stourbridge was limited to only a Kayelden Brown shot in the 2nd half.
Final Score: Shildon AFC 0 Stourbridge 0
Subs: Connor for Rae 78, Emms for Hudson 83, Rundle for Wood 85.
Bookings: (Y) Craddock 29, Wood 37, Moore 40, Greulich-Smith 44

After the match manager Gary Forrest said “Stourbridge were the better side in the 1st half, but we came more into the game in the 2nd half and with the balance of play, we just about deserved to win, as we created more scoring chances”.
