Match Report

Shildon AFC is on a Roll

Shildon AFC is on a roll after scoring 5 goals for the second time in less than a week. On Saturday 15th November they had a great 5 – 0 away win at Whitley Bay, then three days later on Tuesday 18th November they traveled to Consett and comprehensively beat them 5 – 1. In their last 5 games the Railwaymen have scored 22 goals and only conceded 2.

Shildon took an early lead after just 2 minutes when a Mark Hudson corner was headed home by the unmarked Jamie Harwood on the back post.

Minutes later it was 2 – 0 when Mark Hudson put Paul Connor through and he fired past keeper Chris Elliott.

Shildon were rampant with keeper Elliott having to save well from Paul Connor and Daniel Moore.

Just after the half hour Ben Wood, the last man in the box, was brought down by keeper Elliott, but Mark Hudson fired the spot kick way over the bar.

Chris Emms made it 3 – 0 just before the half time whistle.

Half Time:  Consett  0  Shildon AFC  3

Early in the 2nd half Consett’s Adam Nichol pulled a goal back and for a while the Steelmen came more into the game, but on 79 minutes captain Dan Madden didn’t help their cause when he was given a red card for stamping on Daniel Moore.

Near the end a great two man Shildon move saw Mark Doninger find Lee Scroggins who chipped the keeper for 4 – 1.

A minute later Doninger’s powerful shot nearly broke the bar.

On 90 minutes Micky Rae completed the rout when his free kick from the edge of the box flew into the roof of the net.
