Match Report
A Tame Affair
Shildon AFC were beaten 1 – 0 away at North Shields on Saturday 7th May in a game that had an end of season feel about it. It was nothing like the previous encounter just a week earlier in the League Cup when Shildon won on penalties.
It was a much changed side from the one who played Ashington at Dean Street on Wednesday 4th, with only Matty Robson and Dan Groves in the starting line up.
The result may have been slightly disappointing for the travelling supporters, but there was a shining light in an excellent assured debut by David Vincent from the Under 18’s who didn’t look out of place throughout the game. Congratulations and well played David.
The match was a tame affair with just a few scoring chances for North Shields and even less for Shildon.
After Shield’s Ryan McGorrigan hit the post early on, the home side scored the only goal of the game on 21 minutes when Shildon’s Carl Jones back pass to the keeper was too short and Jack Devlin intercepted and fired passed keeper Kyle Hayes.
Final Score: North Shields 1 Shildon AFC 0
Subs: None used.
Bookings: (Y) Groves 51, Jones 54.
Man-of-the-Match: David Vincent
