A Good Start
Shildon AFC started their six pre-season friendlies all away from home with a comfortable 2 – 1 win at Northallerton Town on Saturday 11th July. The 18 man starting line-up included Keith Finch in goal and Marc Ellison at No 3, with new signings John Davis, Kyle Fryatt and Lewis Wing all making their debut and trialist Ben Addison on the bench. The home side open the scoring after just 4 minutes when Ben Darville pounced on a Keith Finch rebound and fired home. Shildon came more into the game and levelled on 23 minutes when Paul Connor lobbed the ball over the keeper from a long way out.

The 2nd half saw a Ben Wood drive pushed out, a Mark Hudson left footer well stopped by keeper Matty Calvert , and Mark Doinger firing wide. For Northallerton, Daniel Reak’s great shot went just over the bar. Shildon sealed the win with 6 minutes remaining when a long ball from Lee Chapman found Mark Doninger who blasted into the roof of the net.
