Shildon AFC maintained their 100% record in the league with a 3 – 1 away win at Penrith on Wednesday 17th August 2016.
After under performing in the first half the Railwaymen fell behind just before the break. However, they were a far better team in the second half scoring 3 goals in a 12 minute spell just after the hour.
Penrith created nearly all the chances in the first half with No 9 Martyn Coleman and Michael Newton twice going close. Just a minute before the interlude Coleman was brought down in the box by Shildon’s No 5 Carl Jones for a penalty which Coleman himself converted.

After Paul Connor came on in the 56 minutes Shildon were a different outfit and 5 minutes later Anth Bell found Paul Connor who made it 1 – 1. Two minutes later Connor squared to Lewis Dodds who put the Railwaymen in the lead. The 3rd goal followed shortly afterwards with a bullet header from David Ferguson.
Penrith’s star man Michael Newton was unlucky on 76 minutes when he hit the post.
