Match Report

Best Display since I became Manager – Daniel Moore.

Shildon AFC entertained top of the league North Shields on Saturday 25th March 2017 and pulled off an excellent 2 – 0 victory.

Prior to today, The Robins had only lost two league games all season and had won their last fifteen consecutive league matches.

However, today was a different story as the Railwaymen were brilliant from the kick off.

Shields went close on 8 minutes when Dan Wilson’s shot hit the left post and bounced clear.

Shildon had the majority of the play thereafter, and took the lead just before the half time whistle when Michael McKeown was given his second yellow for a foul in the box on Jamie Harwood, with Matty Robson scoring from the spot kick.

Half Time:  Shildon AFC  1  North Shields  0

Shildon dominated the play for the whole of the second half. On 49 minutes Adam Burnicle should have scored, before Sam Hodgson, Micky Rae and Billy Greulich-Smith all went close.

On 80 minutes Adam Burnicle fired into the bottom corner to make the result safe.

Shields didn’t create a single chance in the second half. Their only effort was a Graham Bainbridge free kick, in time added on, which sailed over the bar.

Final Score:  Shildon AFC  2  North Shields  0

Goalscorers:  Robson 45, Burnicle 80.

Man-of-the-Match:  Daniel ‘Bobby’ Moore

After the match manager Daniel Moore said “We found our top form today, and we were superb. We were comfortable in possession and carried a constant threat. This was our best display since I became manager.

Despite losing today, North Shields are still favourite to win the league title, and if they can win their last four games they will be champions.
