Match Report
Shildon AFC are still 3rd in the league after an uninspiring 1 – 0 away win against second from bottom club West Allotment Celtic on Saturday 18th February 2017.
In the starting line up were new signing Adam Burnicle from West Auckland at No 9 and youngster David Vincent at No 7.
In very winding conditions this was never going to be a classic and how right it turned out to be. In fact Celtic never had a shot on target for the whole 90 minutes and Shildon were not much better.
The only goal of the game came on 14 minutes when Celtic’s No 2 John Pendlebury handled in the box for a penalty which Matty Robson converted. Midway through the first half Adam Burnicle hit the post and near the end the same player was through with a one on one with keeper Chris Bannon who blocked his effort.
Final Score: West Allotment Celtic 0 Shildon AFC 1
Goalscorer: Robson 14.
Subs: Capper for Wing 58, Purewal for Rae 70, Greulich-Smith for Ellison 78.
Booking: (Y) Moore 9.
Man-of-the-Match: David Vincent.
Not a good game to watch, with very few chances, but a win is a win and move on to the next game.
