A comfortable  away win

The Railwaymen had a comfortable 4 – 0 away victory at Morpeth Town on Saturday 5th October 2013.

Morpeth didn’t help themselves when they were down to 10 men after only 15 minutes when Steven Anderson got his marching orders for stamping on Mark Hudson whilst he was on the ground after being fouled.

On the half hour Ben Wood hit the bar and then Jamie Harwood’s free kick was tipped over. Near the break Paul Connor was through but keeper Steven Mundy made an excellent block save. Somehow it remained goal-less at the break.

Half Time:  Morpeth Town  0  Shildon AFC  0

Two minutes after the restart Ben Wood scored a curling dipping free kick from 22 yards out and a minute later Paul Connor chipped the keeper for 2 goals in 2 minutes.

With Shildon in full control they finally added to their score near the end when Mark Hudson fed Sam Garvie on the right who fired home from the edge of the box.

Just before the final whistle captain Chris Jewels handled in the box for a Shildon penalty which Mark Hudson dispatched.

Final Score:  Morpeth Town  0  Shildon AFC  4

Goalscorers:  Wood 47, Connor 48, Garvie 89, Hudson 90.
