A Comfortable Win
Shildon AFC had a very comfortable 4 – 0 home win on Wednesday 26th October 2016 against Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the 1st Round of the Durham Challenge Cup.
Ryton are in the 2nd Division and the quality difference between the teams was evident from the kick off with Shildon in full control for the whole 90 minutes.
Nevertheless, it still took the Railwaymen 27 minutes to find the net when Amar Purewell found Paul Connor who side footed home.
Ninety seconds later it was 2 – 0 when Lewis Wing scored and shortly after he scored again. Before the break it was game over and 4 – 0 when a right wing corner saw Billy Greulich-Smith tower high above everyone else with a fine header from 6 yards out.
With the result not in doubt Shildon eased off a little. Apart from Amar Purewell’s shot glancing the post and Lewis Wing’s powerful drive hitting the underside of the bar, the score remained the same.
On the last kick of the game Matty Robson was clean through but blasted over the bar.
