A Comfortable Win
Shildon AFC are through to the last eight of the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup after a comfortable 4 – 0 home against Whitley Bay on Wednesday 18th January 2017.
The Railwaymen were in control from the kick off playing some good football, with Thomas Flynn Whitley’s goalkeeper having a busy night.
On 22 minutes a cracking effort from Lewis Wing hit the bar. Two minutes later Billy Greulich-Smith gave Shildon the lead when he beat his man and fired a left foot shot into the bottom corner.
Five minutes later David Ferguson was brought down in the box by Ross Wilkinson and Anth Bell converted the spot kick.
Just before the interval Amar Purewal’s shot was parred by the keeper but Purewal fired the rebound high into the roof of the net.

Whitley were more positive in the 2nd half with Alex Kemster missing two good chances, before Shildon extended their lead when Lewis Wing beat three men and put Anth Bell through for him to round the keeper and fire into the empty net.
