An Excellent Win
After being knocked out of the Durham Challenge Cup quarter final last weekend by Billingham Synthonia, Shildon made amends by progressing to the semi final of the Brooks Mileston Northern League Cup with an excellent 3 – 0 home win on Wednesday 8th February 2017 against 2nd Division high flyers Stockton Town, who are favourites to gain promotion.
The Railwaymen took an early lead on 6 minutes when Lewis Dodd’s crossed to Micky Rae whose left foot shot beat keeper Michael Arthur. It was 2 -0 midway through the half when great play from Lewis Dodd’s found the reliable Lewis Wing who once again, as he has done regularly, fired into the roof of the net.
Just before the break Stockton were reduced to 10 men when Kevin Hayes was red carded for a two footed lunge.

Early in the 2nd half a cracking shot from Lewis Wing hit the underside of the bar and bounced clear. Near the end Paul Connor beat the offside trap on the right and crossed to Billy Greulich-Smith who fired into an open goal for 3 – 0.
