West Auckland  v  SHILDON

Due to FA rules, we are unable to provide details of the result.

Man of the Match – Jack Leighton

The Shildon Under 8’s were away to West Auckland this Sunday. The game was always going to be a tough one. Shildon put the pressure on from the off, and gave West very little room to move. They passed the ball very well and had a number of shots at goal but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net.  As the second half got under way Shildon increased the pressure again, the quality of the football being played was outstanding. Jack Leighton managed to get Shildon onto the scoreboard with a cracking goal, a great present for his 8th birthday!  Jake Sharp in goal made a number of good saves.

Sedgefield Youth  v  SHILDON

Due to FA rules, we are unable to provide details of the result.

Shildon U9’s travelled to Sedgefield on Sunday with only 6 players. This however only fed their desire.  Every player was outstanding and played some great football throughout both games.  For much of the time the opposition couldn’t break out of their own half such was Shildon’s determination and team play.  Cole Layfield scored the Shildon goal.

The team was: Jamie Donohue, Ashley Jardine, James Douthwaite, Micheal Gaffney, Cole Layfield, Kian Dixon.

SHILDON  1  0  Darlington 21st All Stars

Scorers Kane Hopwood

On a very heavy muddy pitch, Shildon from the start tried to play passing football with some good coach work from defence to mid-field up to the forwards.  Having most of the play Ellie Geary was very unlucky with 2 good right foot shots that were well saved by the All Stars goalkeeper. As conditions worsened the away team defended well,at half time it was still 0-0.  At the start of the second half, Shildon had good passes and were unlucky several times not to score.  With 6mins remaining, again with good team passing, a through ball was pounced on by Kane Hopwood, who shot into the corner.

Good luck next week in the cup quarter final at Norton.

Brompton  5  3  SHILDON

Scorers  –  Adam Campbell (1), Tom Andelin (1) Blake Milner (1)

Man of the match – Chloe Geary

The U13’s travelled to Brompton with a depleted squad, but gave a great account for themselves.  Mid way through the first half Brompton took the lead when a wicked shot crept in through the legs of Chloe Geary.  A number of first half chances came Shildon’s way, but a combination of bad luck and good goalkeeping ensured Brompton went in the half time break one goal to the good.

The second half started with Brompton missing a couple of chances before Tom Andelin netted with a great left foot shot. Shildon had a couple of more chances to take the lead, but Brompton hit back with 3 good goals in quick succession.  In to the last 10 minutes, and Adam Campbell ran on to a through ball to reduce the arrears.  With Shildon now pushing for another goal, Brompton broke away and scored a fifth goal.  The heads never dropped though, and a great strike by Blake Milner reduced the arrears again.  There was still time for another attempt at the Brompton goal, but the keeper managed to clear his lines.

A really good squad performance with special mention to Chloe Geary who played well in goal and picked up the MOTM award.  The team have the chance to gain revenge with the return fixture next week at the scouts field.
