Shildon AFC v Hebburn Town FC – Chairman’s Preview

Tomorrow we welcome back our former Manager, Dan Moore to Dean Street.  Since we parted company in the summer he has gone on to do a great job with Hebburn Town.  A Club who have the resources to go further and who currently sit in second place. Dan deserves a lot of credit for what he’s achieved and I look forward to seeing them in the playoffs in a couple of months.  I will never forget the support Dan gave me and Diane when he stepped in 6 years ago and I like to think we have repaid him by giving him his first chance in management and the resources to get us into the Northern Premier League and to go and win the Durham Challenge Cup.

We’ve had an indifferent season, which in many ways was to be expected as we over-achieved last season.  In the appointment of Chris Hughes, another Shildon legend, I believe that we are finally getting things right on and off the pitch.  We go into the game as underdogs but in a good vein of form and I know that we will give them a game.  We still need points to ensure we stay in the League next season, so tonight’s game is massive on many levels.  We need your support on Tuesday so please try and get to the game and get behind Chris and the team.

We have friends in the Hebburn boardroom, who I’m looking forward to meeting up with on the night. I’m looking forward to meeting up again with Dan, but like him once the whistle goes there will be no sentiment.  We need a result and we need to build a Club who play with the right football philosophy, who can compete and progress in this League for many years to come.  We’ve got some exciting plans which will go along way to making that happen but we’ve got to focus on the here and now first of all and that starts with a result tomorrow night.

Enjoy the game everyone.
