David said:  “I’m absolutely delighted to get a new contract sorted, after last season there’s no time for excuses and feeling sorry for ourselves, we just need to focus on our goals for the forthcoming season and put things right”.

Manager Chris Hughes commented: “We are delighted that David has committed to the club for the next few seasons. It shows that we are serious about gaining promotion at the first time of asking and having a player of David’s ability is a key part of that. We saw how David and Jon (Weirs) formed a top partnership for a sustained period of time last season and we want to see that develop across a full season. David brings a wealth of experience and quality to the team and he will be a real leader for us this season.”

Chairman David Dent said:  “This signing represents a statement of intent from Shildon AFC.  I’m delighted that a player of the quality of David has committed his future to the Club.  Our aim next season is to win promotion to the Northern Premier League East and the securing of some of our most talented and experienced players on deals for next season and beyond gives Chris a platform to build a squad capable of challenging“.
