Brighter Future for Dean Street

Shildon AFC is delighted to announce they have secured planning permission for the installation of new pitch floodlighting at Dean Street.

The current floodlights have been in place since the mid 1980’s and are well beyond their expected life span.  The new floodlights will ensure that we meet league requirements, not only now but in the future, with regard to pitch illumination.

The Club have appointed Direct Sports Lighting (as a preferred supplier of the Premier League Stadium Fund) for the installation of the floodlights, utilising their Apex Pro LED lights.  The scheme is being funded via the Premier League Stadium Fund and the Football Club.  Preparatory work will begin this month with the new floodlights being operational for the start of the 2024/2025 season.

Chairman, David Dent said:  “I am delighted that Durham County Council has approved our plans for the new floodlights at Dean Street.  The new LED lights are much more energy efficient than the old lights and moves the Club one more step towards being more sustainable. Thank you to the Premier League for their continued support and we look forward to working with Direct Sports Lighting on the installation.”
