This comes on the back of a fantastic season in which the Club is in the running to win promotion back into the Northern Premier League.

David Dent, Chairman of Shildon AFC said “ It was absolutely essential to get Chris to commit to the next 3 years at Shildon AFC. He is integral to our plans, he gets where the Club wants to go and is fully on board with our ambitions to create a successful but sustainable community club. I’m delighted that Chris, Craig and the two David’s want to stay and build upon a fantastic season. Whatever happens, this season has been a success and with some continuity we can keep on building and get Shildon AFC back to where we belong”

Chris Hughes said “ We are delighted to commit to the club for next 3 years.  The recent support of resigning players for next season was a clear show of intent from the club and we appreciate that backing.  Everyone at the club has been supportive since we arrived and it is clear to see that we are all pulling the same way.  The plans for the future are exciting and we need to match those ambitions with a playing squad the town can continue to be proud of.  It has been a good season so far and to see the squad develop the way it has is pleasing to see.  The fact that Craig, David and David are staying as part of the team is essential for the club to continue with its progress.  We will be doing all we can in the rest of this season to succeed in our target of being promoted back to the NPL.”
