Shildon AFC is pleased to confirm the short‑term loan signing of defender Alfie Myers‑Smith from Darlington FC.
Alfie began his football journey with Middlesbrough Academy, joining the Under‑15s before progressing through the ranks. A versatile player, he is capable of operating at right‑back, centre‑back, and in midfield.
During his time at Middlesbrough, Alfie captained the Under‑18s on several occasions and went on to make 23 appearances for the Under‑21s in the Premier League North during the 2023/24 campaign.
Last season, he gained further experience on loan at South Shields in the National League North.
Following his release from Middlesbrough in the summer, Alfie joined Darlington, where his flexibility and leadership qualities have been highly valued.
Chris Hughes, Shildon AFC First Team Manager, commented: “It’s great to have Alfie join us. He is someone I have worked with previously at Middlesbrough FC. He’s a talented young player who brings energy and versatility, and I’m sure the fans will enjoy seeing him in a Shildon shirt. He is returning from an injury so we will need to be patient and support his return to competitive action.”
We look forward to welcoming Alfie into the squad and seeing him contribute during his time at Dean Street.
