Alex Curran signs for Shildon AFC

Shildon AFC is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Alex Curran.  Alex has signed from National League North side Blyth Spartans and has experience of playing in the Northern League since the age of twenty.  Former clubs include Ryton, Whickham, Tow Law & most recently Blyth Spartans.  He was selected in the Vanarama Team of the week on his National League North debut with a clean sheet at  home to Brackley Town.

Jamie Tunstall, Shildon AFC Manager said “I’m delighted to welcome Alex to the club.  Right from our initial conversations I got a good feeling about his character and felt like he’d be a great fit for our dressing room.  Alex comes with plenty of experience and has played in the National League North last year so will be a big asset to us as a football club”.

Gary Forrest interview

Last night Shildon played their last home match of a wonderfully successful season. To date the side are second in the league and halve the best away record of any side. Gary Forrest interview: Shildon v Morpeth

Shildon manager, Gary Forrest reflects on the Railwaymen’s home draw against Morpeth.

With all Shildon’s title rivals also dropping points, the Railwaymen were disappointed not to exploit an advantage. Gary expresses his frustration at the decision to allow play to go on in the lead up to Morpeth’s equaliser and at the condition of the Dean Street surface.

Mark Hudson interview: DCC Semi Final

Shildon captain, Mark Hudson reflects on the Railwaymen’s Durham Challenge Cup semi final win over Consett and looks to the league campaign ahead.

The semi final victory means Shildon will play in their first cup final since 2007-08 with local rivals, Spennymoor Town the opponents.

The final date remains to be officially confirmed, but is expected to be played on Good Friday, 18 April, at the Eppleton Colliery Football Ground, Hetton Le Hole, with an 11am kick off
