Shildon are through to the 2nd round of the FA Vase after a 2-0 victory against West Didsbury & Chorlton

Nathan Steel gave Shildon the perfect start after 2 minutes with a cool finish past the West goalkeeper.

West Didsbury & Chorlton were down to 10 men after 10 minutes when Lee Gavin was given a straight red card for a tackle on Ben Trotter.

In the final minute of the half Danny Craggs double the advantage forcing the ball home from a Heywood cross.

Shaun Newbrook tipped a shot over to keep the clean sheet in tact and Billy Greulich-Smith had a goal disallowed late in the second half.

Nathan Steel removed from Transfer List

The Club can also confirm that Nathan Steel has been removed from the transfer list.

Shildon manager Dan Moore said “Nathan’s goal scoring record speaks for itself. I have total belief in him so we have had a couple of honest conversations over the last week and I am happy that he is staying with us.”

Matty Robson becomes Player/Coach

The Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Matty Robson as Player Coach supporting Dan Moore and Mark Hudson.

On the appointment Dan Moore said “Robbo is a true professional and role model at the club with a great deal of experience in the game so is a perfect fit.”

Shildon produced a second half fightback to gain all three points at Whitley Bay and move to 4th in the League.

Former Shildon striker Brad Hird gave Whitley Bay the lead after 12 mins from the penalty spot.

Shildon manager made 3 substitutions at half time bringing on Mulligan, Trotter & Atkinson replacing Petrache, Liddle & Matthews.

11 minutes into the half Danny Craggs headed in from a Aidan Heywood cross and then 4 minutes later Ben Trotter placed the ball past the Whitley Bay keeper to give Shildon the points.

Shildon return to league action against Whitley Bay.

Following a 2-0 win away at Willington in league cup group F, the Railway Men will be looking to continue the fine football displayed, as they take a trip to Hillheads Park to face 16^th placed Whitley Bay.

Shildon, who currently sit 6^thin the league, will be hoping to finally secure all 3 points following an indifferent set of results in recent weeks.

The victory at Willington will, however provide Daniel Moore’s men with confidence of securing back to back away wins, which could in-turn see the Railway Men jump to 4^th in the league.

A 3-1 victory for Shildon when the sides last met at Hillheads park, will be a result manager Daniel Moore will be looking to replicate this Saturday.

Although Manager Moore will be prioritising a win first and foremost, The Railway Men will be hopeful of securing a second clean sheet in four days against a Whitley Bay side that have netted just 12 times in the league this season.

With Shildon currently being the leagues second highest scorers (29 league goals) a clean sheet could go along way to increasing the Railway Men’s goal difference – something which could prove critical come the end of the season.

A win would see Shildon move onto 21 points, potentially leaving the Railway Men just a point off both second placed Stockton Town and third placed Consett (with 2 games in hand).
