Shildon are through to the 2nd round of the FA Vase after a 2-0 victory against West Didsbury & Chorlton

Nathan Steel gave Shildon the perfect start after 2 minutes with a cool finish past the West goalkeeper.

West Didsbury & Chorlton were down to 10 men after 10 minutes when Lee Gavin was given a straight red card for a tackle on Ben Trotter.

In the final minute of the half Danny Craggs double the advantage forcing the ball home from a Heywood cross.

Shaun Newbrook tipped a shot over to keep the clean sheet in tact and Billy Greulich-Smith had a goal disallowed late in the second half.

FULL TIME | Easington Colliery 1 Shildon 2 #FAVase

Shildon are through to the next round of the FA Vase after a 2-1 victory in a wind affected game at Easington.

Shildon kicking with the wind in the first half scored 2 goals through Danny Craggs and Aidan Heywood. Danny Craggs from a free kick after 12 mins that floated over the keeper. Aidan Heywood then curled a shot to the goalkeepers right after 35 mins. Shildon had a few other chances but didn’t take them through Craggs, Matthews and Greulich-Smith.

In the second half Dom Curl played a back pass too short and Liam Anderson stole in to reduce the deficit. Shaun Newbrook made a couple of good saves and Shildon held out for the win.

Railway men looking to keep the momentum flowing

 

Shildon will be aiming to maintain a positive return to form as they take on Easington Colliery today in the latest round of the FA vase.

 

The club face another trip away from Dean Street and manager Daniel Moore has made no secret that his side cannot take their opponents lightly.

 

“We cannot underestimate Easington I went to watch them in the week, and they are very capable of scoring goals.”

 

“We have to keep our own momentum going and I still think there is more to come from us.”

 

As to what side could feature at the weekend, manager Moore will be without both Zac Atkinson and Jack Vaulks so once again the boss will lean on the club’s squad depth in search of victory.

Shildon are out of the FA Vase after a 3-2 defeat against Sunderland RCA.

Shildon controlled most of the 1st half and deservedly took the lead when Daniel Moore struck a shot low into the bottom corner.

In the second half Sunderland RCA upped the tempo and took the lead. First Page rounded Newbrook in the Shildon goal to level, then O’Neill gave Sunderland RCA the lead. Aaron Duell then leveled for the home side with a shot from outside the box with 8 minutes remaining.

In the 94th minute of the game, Shildon gave away a free kick just outside the box, eventually the ball landed at the feet of Davis who shot past Newbrook.

FA VASE RESULT | Barton Town 0 Shildon 2

Shildon are in Monday’s draw for the 3rd round of the FA Vase after a 2-0 win away at Barton Town.

Ben “One of Our Own” Trotter headed in after Matty Robson’s penalty was saved at the end of the first half to give Shildon the lead. In the second half Matty Robson made amends for the penalty miss when he doubled the lead with a 25 yard strike that took a deflection into the top corner of the net.

FA Vase 2nd Round Result : Marske United 2 Shildon 1 aet

Shildon were knocked out of the FA Vase after a 2-1 defeat away to Marske United after extra time.

Danny Earl opened the scoring for Marske in the 4th minute. Billy Greulich-Smith scored from the spot to level after Jamie Harwood was brought down in the box sending the game into extra time.

With just about the final kick of the first half of extra time Craig Gott found the corner of the net to send Marske into the draw on Monday.
