Chairman’s Update

Chairmans Update

There’s been a lot of changes at Shildon recently. We have a new Management team and in the appointment of Dan Moore, assisted by Mickey Barron, we have one of the most talented young Managers in the Northern League. I am delighted to confirm that Dan has just signed a 3 year contract which gives him some security and the Club some continuity as we take up the challenge to prove the doubters wrong and build a squad which will challenge for honours at whatever level we compete at over the next 3 years and beyond. This process has already begun with the signing of Adam Burnicle on a 2 year contract and the commitment from some of the existing players to next season, most notably Sam Hodgson who has committed his future to Shildon for the next 2 seasons. We have a list of targets and there be  will be some exciting developments  over the close   season.

The Board has a challenge to give Dan a competitive budget and as an entire Club we are up for this. A major sponsor has been retained for the next 3 years and Platinum club members are being secured. We also are looking to strengthen our Board with the appointment of a local businessman. We of course need the support of the town in coming through the gates and this coming season is no different. We are on a journey here and I would ask the local community to get behind us.

Off the field I have commissioned an Architect to look to develop plans for a new  clubhouse and I am hopeful we will be in a position to submit a planning application in the pre season. We are currently appraising tenders for our new stand and subject to confirmation of Football Foundation work we are on course to start building work during the summer with it being completed before Christmas. All of this work establishes our infrastructure which is vitally important to creating a sustainable community Club.

These developments will cost us something in the region of £250,000 and we need the support of everyone to make them happen. There will be a range of sponsorship opportunities that we will present in the near future including a bucket collection around the ground. We are nearly there with these and your support will help us get over the line, so please dig deep!

These are exciting times for the Club, I’m really confident about the future and I look forward to the birth of a new era growing both the Club and the team
