Every fan has their favourite player and, ultimately, the players are what the fans come to see. With the management tram, they bear the burden of responsibility for bringing success to the club.
Here at Shildon, the players are the embodiment of the team spirit that runs through the club and the relationship between the players and fans here is very special.
Last season the team performed magnificently on the park. To associate your name with a member of the Shildon Football Club squad is to associate yourself with hard work, fair play, high performance and team spirit.
We offer the following opportunities to sponsor your favourite member of the squad.
Option 1 : Player Sponsorship £ 25
Shildon AFC’s historic season has ended on a high at the official Northern League Awards ceremony held at Ramside Hall tonight.
Forward, Billy Greulich-Smith has been named Northern League Player of the Year while Gary Forrest has been named Manager of the Year. Winger, Anthony Bell took the Runner Up award in the Young Player of the Year category.
The awards ceremony signals the official end of a season in which Shildon won the Northern League championship for the first time in 76 years and completed the double by retaining the Northern League Cup in a penalty shootout against league runners up, Marske United. Shildon also won the Cleator Cup at the beginning of the season against the same opposition.
Following the decision to stay at Dean Street plans are now starting to take shape for the redevelopment of the ground.
The bar has recently been refurbished to provide a bar and social space and will transform into classrooms during the day for the Sunderland AFC Academy’s Football Scholarship, which commences in September.
Work will commence in early June for essential ground maintenance which will include the replacement of East View Wall and a planning submission has now been formally lodged for a new 200 seater stand which will complement the main stand and changing / bar facilities.
Chairman David Dent stated: “In committing to stay at Dean Street we realised that we needed to invest in our current facilities to help sustain this fantastic ground.
“Thanks to the support of our Board and Supporters Club we have made a great start and subject to funding support from the relevant bodies, we hope to have our new stand ready for the beginning of the 2017/18 season with the Lee Hainsworth stand being located elsewhere within the ground.”
David went onto say: “This complements all the the work that our Management team are doing close season to ensure that we have another successful season on the pitch. We also hope to make announcements in the near future about further additions to our Board which will promote the realisation of our longer term ambitions.
“This is an exciting time to be involved with the Club.”
