Shildon AFC is delighted to confirm the signing of forward Alfie Steel from West Auckland Town FC on a permanent deal.
Alfie began his senior journey with Hartlepool United in July 2023, gaining valuable experience during loan spells with Whitby Town, Ossett United and West Auckland Town. After completing his final loan, he departed Hartlepool and joined West Auckland permanently in July 2025.
Shildon AFC First Team Manager Chris Hughes said:
Alfie was our primary target up front this summer, regardless of which league we were preparing for. We watched him closely throughout last season and we believe he has all the attributes required to play for Shildon. His work ethic is outstanding, his all‑round game is strong, and he knows how to finish. We’ve built a clear track record of improving young players, and while Alfie already brings a lot to the table, we know he will continue to develop within our environment. Playing for Shildon almost guarantees chances to score, and I know he’s excited to link up with the attacking players we already have at the Club.”
