Film Night in the Clubhouse

The film I Believe in Miracles will be shown in the Dean Street Clubhouse on Friday 18th December 2015 starting at 8pm

On January 6, 1975, Nottingham Forest were thirteenth in the old Second Division, five points above the relegation places and straying dangerously close to establishing a permanent place for themselves among football’s nowhere men.

Within five years Brian Clough had turned an unfashionable and depressed club into the kings of Europe, beating everyone in their way and knocking Liverpool off their perch long before Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United had the same idea.

This is the story of the epic five-year journey that saw Forest complete a real football miracle and Clough brilliantly restore his reputation after his infamous 44-day spell at Leeds United. Forest won the First Division championship, two League Cups and back-to-back European Cups and they did it, incredibly, with five of the players Clough inherited at a club that was trying to avoid relegation to the third tier of English football.

I Believe In Miracles is based on exclusive interviews with virtually every member of the Forest team, it covers the greatest period in Clough’s extraordinary life and brings together the stories of the unlikely assortment of free transfers, bargain buys, rogues, misfits and exceptionally gifted footballers who came together under the most charismatic manager there has ever been.

Norton & Stockton Ancients 1 Shildon 4

Shildon moved two points behind current league leaders Morpeth with a 4-1 win in blustery conditions.

Kicking against the wind in the first half, Shildon scored through Daniel Moore after Jamie Harwood headed the ball back across the goal from a Bell free kick.

After the break Shildon increased their lead with goals from Dodds who tapped into an empty net from a Bell cross and then Moore guided the ball into the net from another Bell free kick. Charmey pulled a goal back for Norton with a shot from the edge of the box before Fryatt finished the scoring with a well-placed shot to the goalkeeper’s right.

Both teams have to be given credit for trying to play football in awful conditions.

Final Score: Norton & Stockton Ancients 1 Shildon 4

Shildon’s next game is away to Ashington on the 12th December, Kick Off 3pm

Supporters Club Stall at Shildon Market

The Supporters Club will be hosting a stall at Shildon’s Christmas Market on Friday 4th December. We will be selling smaller items such as hats, scarves, badges and other goodies as well as handing out promotional material to passers by.

We are still in need of volunteers to assist with the stall, for however long or short a time you can spare. The Market will be open from 10am until 5pm. Please either message us or post here if you are able to spare any time at all to help.

Meanwhile, the Supporters Club has been talking to Shildon Chamber of Trade (Shildon Businesses) to find ways to help promote each other’s activities and one way we will be doing this is by offering a double membership on the day of the Market – for a £5 fee, new members can receive the additional benefit of membership of the Chamber of Trade and access to the discounts available in local shops.

In addition, the Chamber of Trade will be running a raffle on Market Day, and as part of that raffle, the football club has kindly allowed us to donate a Season Ticket for the draw. Console Connections have donated a PS4, so this is a really great draw to take part in. See the poster below for details of where to buy tickets.
