Max Booth Signs Contract with the Railwaymen

Shildon AFC are delighted to announce that Max Booth has signed a contract with the Club (subject to FA approval).

Max will be familiar to Shildon fans having played twice for the first team last season.  He started playing in Teesside Junior Football Alliance League Division 1 with Richmond Town, then moved on to the Darlington youth team.  He was a member of the North Yorkshire county team who got to the semi-finals of two cup competitions.  Max joined the Darlington Academy which he attended for 2 years, playing for the first team in a number of pre-season and cup games.  Whilst at the academy he played for Shildon AFC reserves and during the 2021/22 season stepped up to the Shildon first team.

Jamie Tunstall, Shildon AFC Manager said “Since I came to the club Max has been a topic of conversation a number of times.  He played a couple of times last season and did really well.  We’re delighted that Max has committed to Shildon for next season and I’m hoping he continues to improve and he’ll get opportunities with the first team.  We’re hoping that Max and Matty’s contracts show the young players within the reserves that they can be rewarded and that there will be chances for them.”

Congratulations to Max.

Curl leaves for Marske United FC

Shildon AFC can confirm that defender Dom Curl has left the Club to join Marske United FC for an undisclosed fee – subject to FA approval.

Dom made his first appearance for Shildon AFC aged 17 after training in the Shildon Development Centre Under 18s in the 2016/17 season.  In total he made 167 appearances for the Club scoring once, and had a brief spell on loan at Tow Law AFC in 2020.  Dom was a member of the team that won the Durham Challenge Cup in 2019 and was integral to Shildon gaining promotion to the PitchingIn Northern Premier League (NPL) East for the 2021/22 season.

Jamie Tunstall, Shildon AFC Manager said “whilst we’re disappointed that Dom has decided to leave he goes with our best wishes.  Whilst I never got to work with Dom, during the conversations I had with him, he always conducted himself admirably and I know he’s thankful for what Shildon have done for him. Good luck Dom”.

David Dent , Chairman of Shildon AFC said ”As a Club we are building a squad which will compete at the top of NPL East and we certainly didn’t want to lose Dom.  After discussions with the player it became evident however that he wanted to play at a higher level and the Club wasn’t going to stand in his way. Personally, I go back 5 years with Dom and in that time I’ve seen him mature into a very good defender at this level but more importantly I’ve seen him grow into an outstanding young man who has been nothing but a credit to himself, his family and the Club whilst he’s been with us. He knows that he and his family will always be welcome at Shildon and we wish him all the best in his future career”

Everyone at Shildon AFC wishes Dom well for the future.

Shildon sign defender Toby Pascoe

Shildon AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Toby Pascoe.

Defender, Toby was awarded the Young Player of the Year last season at Crook Town AFC in his first season in adult football.

Shildon AFC Manager, Jamie Tunstall said:  “I’m really pleased Toby has joined us for this season.  He’s a proper old fashioned full back whose an outstanding defender and very capable in possession.  He had an outstanding first season in men’s football and has loads more developing still to come. He quickly became a fans favourite last season and won the young player of the year award which shows how well he did. I’m delighted I get to keep working with him.

Toby’s first interview with Wilf Tray is available here:

Welcom to Shildon AFC.

Luke Page signs for the Railwaymen

Shildon AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Luke Page.  Luke started his football career at Easington and was there for 2 years playing in the Wearside League ultimately gaining promotion to the Northern League and winning the Shipowners Charity Cup.  He then moved to Sunderland RCA for 2 years where the club finished fourth in both seasons, the highest the club had ever finished.  A move followed to Dunston UTS FC where winning the Cleator Cup was a notable sucess.  The following season saw a return to Easington where unfortunately a leg break curtailed his season.

Jamie Tunstall, Shildon AFC Manager said “When Luke’s name was first mentioned to me I got excited straight away and is somebody who I thought could be a big asset for Shildon. He has played at this level at Dunston which is a big plus as he knows the league. He had a nasty injury last year but when I met him, I could see his determination to show he still had what it takes at this level. If we can get Luke back to his best which I’m sure we will and he’ll be given every chance, we’ve got a top top player on our hands”.
