Posthill’s Stunner Caps Dominant Shildon Display at Thornaby

Shildon turned in a commanding performance on a ground that rarely gives visiting sides an easy afternoon, sweeping aside Thornaby with a mix of composure, pace and clinical finishing.

The Railwaymen struck first on 15 minutes, Alfie Steel bursting through the middle and coolly slotting past Sam Taylor to reward Shildon’s bright start. But the lead barely lasted a minute. Tom Price’s clip on a Thornaby forward handed the hosts a penalty, and Kieran Parnaby buried it with confidence to level the contest.

Shildon regrouped and regained control before the break. In the 38th minute, Ben Reay raced clear and beat Taylor with a composed finish, sending the visitors in at half-time with a deserved 2–1 advantage.

The second half belonged almost entirely to Shildon. Reay, outstanding throughout, struck again on 67 minutes with another trademark run and finish to give his side breathing room and underline his man‑of‑the‑match display.

The pick of the goals arrived eight minutes from time. Joe Posthill was felled 25 yards out, dusted himself off, and curled a superb free‑kick over the wall and into the top corner — a strike worthy of settling any match.

In front of an impressive crowd of 502, Shildon delivered a performance full of authority and attacking intent, leaving Thornaby with no complaints and sending their travelling supporters home happy.
