The Railwaymen are up to 3rd in the League
Shildon AFC are now 3rd in the league after an easy 4 – 0 away win at Billingham Synthonia on Wednesday 25th February 2015.
The Railwaymen are now just three points behind league leaders West Auckland Town, who have play three more games. Shildon’s next game is one of their biggest in the league this season when West Auckland visit Dean Street on Saturday 28th February, a six pointer.
Tonight’s game, just like the previous encounter with Billingham, was anything but a classic with Shildon not at their best and Synners not able to get a single shot on target for the whole 90 minutes.
Shildon took the lead after 17 minutes when a shot come cross from Darren Craddock was deemed to have crossed the line after a goalmouth scramble.
Thereafter, there wasn’t another shot from either side until just before the break when Paul Connor ran through and fired past keeper Peter Burke.

It was all Shildon from the kick off with Billy Greulich-Smith heading over on just 7 minutes. A minute later Micky Rae only had keeper Jonathan Carmichael to beat but he fired wide.
Constant home pressure paid off on 25 minutes after good work from Ben Wood who crossed for Chris Emms to fire low into the net.

Shildon AFC are through to the Last Eight
Shildon AFC are through to the last eight of the Brooks Milestone Northern League Cup after an easy 2 – 0 home win against Billingham Synthonia on Wednesday 18th February 2015.
It was third time lucky for the game to be played as the previous two dates were cancelled because of the bad weather.
On a windy evening, it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game on 20 minutes when Ross Gardner blasted over the bar. It transpired this was the only scoring chance Synners had for the whole of the 90 minutes, with Shildon’s keeper Kyle Hayes not required to make a single save all night.
The Railwaymen took the lead on 24 minutes when a well hit free kick was fired over keeper Peter Burke for 1 – 0.
Two minutes later Ben Wood was tripped in the box for a penalty which Lee Scroggins blasted in.
On 36 minutes Shildon nearly got a third when a perfect cross from Paul Connor found Billy Greulich-Smith who headed against the post.
Half Time: Shildon AFC 2 Billingham Synthonia 0
Kicking against the wind the 2nd half was a dull affair with Shildon’s Lee Scroggins firing over and Ben Wood firing wide, with Synners not able to muster a single shot.
Final Score: Shildon AFC 2 Billingham Synthonia 0
Goalscorers: Chapman 24, Scroggins 26.
Subs: Richardson for Chapman 46, Brackstone for Moore 70, Taylor for Connor 77.
Shildon are at home in the next round to Seaham Red Star who are currently running away with the Ebac 2nd Division and are no mugs, having beaten North Shields 2 – 1 in the previous round.

Shildon AFC Keep Their League Title Challenge On Track
Shildon AFC keep their league title challenge on track after a close encounter with high flying 3rd placed Marske United on Saturday 17th February 2015. The Railwaymen were 2 – 1 winners after a 90 minute penalty gave the home side all 3 points.
Shildon were ahead after 10 minutes when a right wing corner from Ben Wood found Billy Greulich-Smith who headed into the top corner of the net from 6 yards out.
Marske levelled just 5 minutes later when a corner by Josh Macdonald was pushed out by keeper Kyle Hayes. Shildon’s Paul Connor thought he had cleared the ball off the line, but the assistant referee awarded a goal, given to No 5 Thomas Bott.
It was an open game with chances from both sides. Marske’s Josh Macdonald, looking well off side, was clean through but Kyle Hayes made a great block with his feet.
For Shildon Micky Rae had a one on one with the keeper Robert Dean who also blocked well with his feet.
Half Time: Shildon AFC 1 Marske United 1
On the hour a Ben Wood scissor kick went just wide, before Wood was through on goal but keeper Dean saved the day..
For Marske, a Darren Hollingsworth power drive was stopped by keeper Hayes.
After a Billy Greulich-Smith header and Mark Doninger firing into the side netting from 6 yards out, it looked like the game would end up all square, but on the 90th minute Adam Wheatley handled in the box for a penalty which Lee Scroggins blasted into the roof of the net.
Shortly after the goal there was a massive fracas with several players from both side involved, but remarkably, no one was booked. The game finished on 97 minutes.
