Shildon AFC Reserves Covid-19 Update

Today (25/09/20) one of our reserve team coaching staff received a positive test result for Covid-19 and is now isolating at home with his family and will obviously not be attending any activities in relation to Shildon AFC/Reserves during that isolation period.

All of our football sessions are held in compliance with FA guidance and all protocols have been followed by both the club and the venue.

None of the players, management, or club officials are showing any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 at this time and everyone is aware of their responsibilities in reporting such symptoms and appropriate actions to take.

As a result of this, in line with local government, health, and FA guidelines and our own stringent Covid-19 Risk Assessments, we are still in a position where we can fulfill our fixtures and train.

As a club, we will continue to monitor and review the situation.

Shildon AFC set up a Reserve side

Shildon AFC are delighted to announce that a Reserve side, affiliated to the Club will be playing in the Wearside League next season, subject to League approval.

This forms part of the Clubs plan over the next few years to have a side which bridges the gap between the First Team and the Academy, creating a pathway for promising young players and also giving players in the First Team squad minutes should they be coming back from injury and the like.

Wayne Claydon, Reserve Team Manager said “ As a Shildon lad I fully understand how much Shildon AFC means to the local community and the establishment of a Reserve side just reinforces those links and helps the Club with their overall ambitions. I feel privileged be given the opportunity to be Manager of the Reserves in their first season “

Darren Tait, Academy/ Reserve Director said “These are really exciting times to be involved with Shildon AFC & there is a lot of hard work still going on behind the scenes for the forthcoming season. The new reserve set up will set us apart from anything else that’s going on in the area & will provide a realistic opportunity for youngsters to progress from U18s football into adult football with Bishop Juniors FC & Shildon AFC Community FC being at the forefront for providing young players.”
