FA decision to terminate Season 2019/20

Today we have learned of the FA’s decision that the National League in which we compete at Step 5  should be ended with immediate effect and that all results will be expunged meaning no promotion or relegation

This is very cruel on Shildon AFC as I firmly believe we would have gone onto win promotion and go into play at a level the Club has never played at before.

As Chairman I’m absolutely devastated by this news but I’m more concerned for  everyone else associated with the Club, our volunteers, supporters, sponsors and not least of all our Management Team and Players who have been absolutely outstanding all season and I feel deserved so much better than today’s decision

We have invested heavily this season, in terms of money but also  in time and effort which has all been wasted. Now is not the time to make decisions on what happens next, it’s the time to thank everyone for  your support and superb efforts throughout the course of a season in which we were 80% through and 10 points ahead of 4th. Let’s not forget those facts!!

There are bigger problems that we are currently facing at the moment so please stay safe and take care

NEW SIGNING | Michael Sweet on loan from Blyth Spartans

Michael Sweet has joined on loan until the end of the season from National North side Blyth Spartans.

Sweet has led the Spartans attack regularly this term with 30 appearances to his name with a goal return of five. He signed for Blyth Spartans in the summer after scoring 128 goals in four seasons at Consett AFC.

We are delighted to secure Michael for the rest of the season to help with our promotion push. He’s a proven goalscorer at this level and will go straight into the squad for our game against Seaham Red Star on Saturday (Subject to League Registration).

We would like to thank Blyth Spartans for their co-operation in making this deal happen.
