MATCH PREVIEW | Whitley Bay v Shildon Match Preview, 5th October 3pm by Josh Hart

Shildon return to league action against Whitley Bay.

Following a 2-0  win away at Willington in league cup group F, the Railway Men will be looking to continue the fine football displayed, as they take a trip to Hillheads Park to face 16th placed Whitley Bay.

Shildon, who currently sit 6th in the league, will be hoping to finally secure all 3 points following an indifferent set of results in recent weeks.

The victory at Willington will, however provide Daniel Moore’s men with confidence of securing back to back away wins, which could in-turn see the Railway Men jump to 4th in the league.

A 3-1 victory for Shildon when the sides last met at Hillheads park, will be a result manager Daniel Moore will be looking to replicate this Saturday.

Although Manager Moore will be prioritising a win first and foremost, The Railway Men will be hopeful of securing a second clean sheet in four days against a Whitley Bay side that have netted just 12 times in the league this season.

With Shildon currently being the leagues second highest scorers (29 league goals) a clean sheet could go along way to increasing the Railway Men’s goal difference – something which could prove critical come the end of the season.

A win would see Shildon move onto 21 points, potentially leaving the Railway Men just a point off both second placed Stockton Town and third placed Consett (with 2 games in hand).

FINAL SCORE | Willington 0 Shildon 2

Shildon played some good football as they made it 2 wins out of 2 in the League Cup Group F with a 2-0 victory at Willington.

Nathan Steel converted a penalty after he was brought down in the box by the Willington keeper to give Shildon the lead after 22 minutes.

Chay Liddle then scored his first goal for the club in the 40th minute to finish the scoring.

Both teams had chances in the second half with Shaun Newbrook making a couple of saves to keep his clean sheet in tact.

FINAL SCORE | Shildon 1 Seaham Red Star

Billy Greulich-Smith rescued a point in the 96th minute at home to Seaham Red Star.

Shildon had many chances in either half to gain all three points but it was a defensive mistake that let Daniel Wilson round the keeper to give Seaham the lead after 60 minutes.

Danny Craggs hit the post with a shot from outside the box and Aidan Heywood headed over from 4 yards as Shildon piled pressure on the Seaham goal.

Billy was then sent clear to score with the last kick of the match.

MATCH PREVIEW | Shildon v Seaham Red Star by Josh Hart

Shildon look to return to winning ways at Dean Street

Following back to back away defeats on the road to Stockton and West Auckland Town respectively, Shildon will be hoping to get back on track against a Seaham Red Star side that currently sit 19th in the league.

Despite a much improved performance against high flying Stockton Town, The Railway Men have still failed to net in their last two outings, something manager Daniel Moore will look to see addressed this weekend.

Moore may be looking towards star forward Billy Greulich-Smith to continue the fine form displayed against Northallerton, which saw the striker bag a Hat-trick in a convincing 3-0 win.

With the away side leaking 23 league goals and picking up just 1 win all season, Shildon will be looking to ensure that they take maximum points against the relegation battling side, but cannot afford any complacency.

A 2-2 draw when the sides last met at Dean Street saw Shildon blow the 2-0 lead they secured in the opening 10 minutes.  Manager Daniel Moore will be hoping for a similar start when the sides meet on Saturday, but will also expect a higher level of concentration throughout, in-order to assure the 3 points

A win for Shildon could see The Railway Men move into the top 4, leapfrogging Guisborough Town, who face mid-table Newcastle Benfield.
