Shildon v Silksworth CW Match Report by Adam Gill

Here is his match report from today’s pre-season friendly against Silksworth CW

Shildon 5-0 Silksworth CW: Match Report

Shildon put five past Silksworth CW at Dean Street as they maintained their 100 percent pre-season record.

The home side almost took the lead in the third minute when Billy Greulich-Smith ran onto Zak Atkinson’s through ball, before taking it round Silksworth keeper Joe Clayton, however his effort was blocked on the line.

Josh Winthrop nearly gave the visitors the lead 34 minutes in, however his effort from the edge of the box came back off the post.

Atkinson found Greulich-Smith in behind just before half-time, leaving him to round Clayton and slot home.

The hosts doubled their lead on the hour mark, when Clayton misjudged a cross, leaving Michael Sweet to tap home into an empty net.

Substitute Daniel Moore increased his sides advantage when his 40 yard strike found its way beyond Clayton.

Shildon scored their fourth of the game 15 minutes from time, when Dean Thexton ran onto a loose ball before slotting home.

Silksworth went close to pulling a goal back when Andy Baxter cut inside before sending his effort just over the bar.

The home side capped off their victory late on, when Sweet’s cross found the head of Moore, who guided his header into the top corner.

With a start date for the new season planned for the 5th September, Applications for Season Cards for the 2020/21 season are now been taken over the internet.

Prices are

Adults – £ 100
Concessions – £ 60 (Over 65’s)
Child – £ 30 (Under 16’s)

And for Livin tenants*

Adults – £ 80
Concessions – £ 50 (Over 65’s)
Child – £ 25 (Under 16’s)

Shildon AFC – Kit Launch & Online Club Shop

Shildon AFC – Kit Partnership

Shildon AFC announced a 3 year partnership with Motif8 who will exclusively provide the Club with all of its Club kit. The deal sees Motif8 providing kits to the First Team, Reserves Development Centre and Academy.In addition replica strips can be bought from the Clubs on line shop which has been launched today. The Supporters Club shop which is due to open before the season, will also stock certain items and will have samples of the Club shirts on view

Chairman David Dent said, “ From the very first meeting I was very impressed with Motif8, their product range is great, delivery timelines fit in with what the Club expects but what they really understand is partnership working. They want the Club to be successful and have committed to supporting specific community events which is great. I’m looking forward to working with them”

Blue Diamond Social Club Opening Friday 17th July

Our Bar is re-opening on Friday 17th July 2020.

With this in mind we have created the following guidance to keep everyone safe and to let you know that things will look a little different.

To help the NHS with their track and trace scheme we will also require everyone who visits the bar to provide the bar staff with their name and telephone number.

We can’t wait to see you all again!!

NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS AND VISITORS

PLEASE KEEP YOURSELF OTHER CUSTOMERS AND OUR STAFF SAFE BY ADHERING TO THE FOLLOWING

On arrival please wash your hands or use hand sanitiser provided. Visit only if you are well

Respect social distancing guidance as displayed. Avoid shaking hands and close contact with others

Observe signage regarding Entrance and Exit points and the one-way system around the bar

No entry to behind bar, kitchen or cellar area at any time. No standing at the bar

No smoking within 5 meters of the entrance or exit and no vaping in the bar

Contactless payment is encouraged and preferred

Do not move tables or chairs, everything has been positioned for social distancing. Table booking is available

Under 18’s not allowed entry unless a specific event has been organised or accompanied by an adult at all times

Please don’t return glasses to the bar, they will be collected by staff from an allocated area.

Doors to remain open wherever possible to aid ventilation

Please do not be offended if you are not allowed entry due to the maximum safe capacity of the bar area being reached-this is for everyone’s safety.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR STAFF IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ABOVE

HAZARD – CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19)

WHO MIGHT BE AFFECTED – EMPLOYEES, VISITORS, CUSTOMERS

The following CONTROL MEASURES will be in place:

Separate exit and entrance doors to avoid crowding at these points.
Doors to be kept open wherever possible to increase air flow
Hand sanitiser to be available at all times at key locations
Hygiene, directional signage and social distancing notices to be displayed for staff and customers.
Tables to be spaced out, at least 1m apart and must not be moved by customers.
Maximum occupancy number set for bar area, when capacity is reached this will be displayed on entrance door and no further customers will be permitted entry
Contactless payment is preferred.
Number of employees behind bar/kitchen area to be limited
No smoking allowed beside entrance or exit. No vaping permitted in the bar.
Enhanced hand wash routines implemented and reminders displayed in all areas
Sanitising of touch points front and back of house regularly and at least every hour
No queuing or standing at the bar – table service will be provided. Glasses will be collected by staff from tables and should not be returned to bar by customers
Employees able to advise on social distancing.
Staff excluded from work, based on Government guidance, should they display any symptoms of illness or if they are required to self isolate.
Face masks and gloves available to staff should they wish to use them.
Return to work assessment of staff who have been absent due to illness or isolation to determine their fitness to return
All staff to be made aware of known routes for the transmission of COVID 19 and social distancing to maintain their wellbeing and those they come into contact with. Back to back or side by side working to minimise exposure
Employees advised to launder clothes worn for work at 60’C or to use a laundry sanitising agent
One way system to be used by visitors and customers in the bar as defined by clear markings
Visitors, contractors to be on premises by appointment only.
Communication channels available for staff to ask questions and raise concerns to support their physical and mental health
Strictly only staff permitted behind bar and in kitchen/cellar area at any time
Tables to be cleaned between customers
Cleaning regime implemented between opening times. Monitoring documents to be provided and completed when cleaning is carried out
Adequate number of fully stocked soap, sanitiser and cleaning products to be available at all times
Customers/visitors who do not comply with the house rules will be asked to leave immediately and consideration made to future permitted entry.
Toilets to be used on a strict one in, one out basis. Surface cleaner will be available in toilets should customers wish to use, in addition to staff cleaning regime.
The playing of any games including dominoes, darts, cards, lottery draws etc is not permitted.
Bar area cleaning routine to be adhered to by staff during shift times.
Under 18’s are only allowed entry if accompanied by an adult at all times or unless a specific event has been organised.
Booking of tables will be available
The risk assessment to be reviewed on a weekly basis or with immediate effect of new Government guidance

Next Friday 3rd July we will be hosting our Awards Night for the 2019/20 virtually on Zoom.

Shildon AFC launch Official Supporters Club

Shildon AFC Supporters launch Official Supporters Club

Following a request from our supporters the Board is delighted to back the formation of an Official Supporters Club whose aim is to support the Club achieve their ambitions for success on and off the pitch.

The Supporters Club will perform both match day duties and community engagement on behalf of the Club and will support in fundraising for the Club, it’s official charity and for other good causes around the town

In return the Club will offer to Supporters Club members discounts on Season Cards, discounts on official Club merchandise, a shirt from the Clubs kit partners to raffle every month and regular access to the Management Team and players at events organised by the Supporters Club.

The Official Supporters Club has got off to a great start with over 9,000 followers on it’s Official Twitter Account.

Mike Amos tells all in new book – the stories of his life

On his blog on the 2nd June he said of his book

“Almost a year after it was conceived, gestation period of a hairy mammoth, the autobiography – or at least the softback edition – is here.

Unconsidered Trifles arrived this morning in a three-car convoy from the printer’s in Middlesbrough. Now the hard work really starts, shifting the things again.

Sub-titled Memories of a Jobbing Journalist, as can probably be seen above, it’s by no means just a football book – rather a snapshot of North-East life and folk over many decades – but footy provides a constant and a recurring theme.

There are wonderful stories like the afternoon that Stanhope Town played Wearhead United, nether regions of the Crook and District league second division, at the Stadium of Light or the evening that the inmates of Holme House prison in Stockton played Roseworth Social Club within those walls, perhaps the first occasion since Newgate that spectators have been charged to get into a prison.

There’s a first-hand account of West Auckland’s ill-starred trip to Turin to mark the centenary in 2009 of their first World Cup win, several affectionate stories about Graham Kelly – “the most traduced man in football” – and all manner of Northern League memories.

One of my favourites is about the ultra-posh banquet to mark the FA’s 150th anniversary – Prince William, Sepp Blatter and me. In where draughts cannot? Suffice that those who believe there’s only one Mike Amos may be mistaken.

Shildon lad and former Darlington FC chairman George Reynolds features quite a lot, too. A particularly indelible yarn concerns the time he gave acclaimed artist Mackenzie Thorpe a tour of the new GR Arena….

Though the spread is regional, occasionally beyond, there’s inevitably a slight bias towards Shildon. The book launch was planned for the Dean Street clubhouse before the virus compelled a change of plan.

.So now I need to sell a few books – to blog readers, their friends, pretty much anyone. The softback, beautifully produced and designed, is £10. The hardback will be £22. Postage for the softback is £3 20, dunno about the hardback yet.”

Bradley & Ben 2.3 mile dribble

One of our Partners, Bishop Juniors FC, players has decided that he would like to help his and our football team’s official chosen charity, The Solan Connor Fawcett Trust, during these difficult times. Bradley has decided to dribble a football from Bishop Juniors FC’s home ground, King James I Academy to our ground at Dean Street.

He will also be accompanied by our very own Captain Ben Trotter for which he is very great full for the support!

Bradley & Ben will dribble a total of 2.4 miles with a football between the 2 venues & we hope that they can get as much support as possible to support the Trust.
