Sunderland RCA 2-3 Shildon: Match Report

Shildon produced a second-half comeback away to Sunderland RCA as they progressed to the next round of the Buildbase FA Vase.

Stephen Callen gave RCA the lead in the 27th minute, before Anthony Callaghan doubled the home sides lead in the 52nd minute.

Chay Liddle, David Palmer and Dean Thexton all scored in the remaining 30 minutes, as the Railwaymen pulled off a comeback.

Neither side had any real chances in the game until the 27th minute, when Callen was left unmarked from a corner before tapping home beyond Shaun Newbrook from six yards out.

Callaghan made it two just after half-time, as he robbed Jack Vaulks of possession on the edge of the Shildon box, before slotting home beyond Newbrook.

Shildon pulled a goal back in the 59th minute, when Joe Posthill drove to the byline before pulling the ball back to Liddle, who smashed the ball home from 15 yards out.

The away side thought they had equalised in the 66th minute, when Posthill’s looping cross was met by the head of Thexton at the back post, however Paul Griffith got down low to turn his effort wide of the post.

The Railwaymen equalised in the 69th minute, when Thexton laid the ball off to Palmer on the edge, before his weak effort was spilled by Griffith into the net.

Shildon were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute when Liddle was brought down in the box under after a rash challenge from Ryan Leonard.

Thexton stepped up to take and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, sending RCA keeper Griffith the wrong way to complete the comeback.

The away side held on for the win, which sees them go through to the next round of the competition.

Sunderland RCA vs Shildon: Match Preview

Shildon travel to the Sunderland LGV Park to face Sunderland RCA in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round.

The Railwaymen overcame the challenge of Chester-Le-Street in the First Round Qualifying, whilst RCA went straight into the second round.

The visitors are on good form, having won their last two league games against Seaham Red Star and Bishop Auckland.

Ahead of a busy October month, a win would certainly help to keep momentum going for their upcoming league fixtures.

Having lost their previous two league games, against Billingham Town and Ashington, RCA will be hopeful to get back to winning ways.

Billy Greulich-Smith remains out, however there is no further injury concerns ahead of the game.

Currently the capacity that we are allowed to admit is 150, so we have created an application form so that supporters can apply to attend.

The applications will be dealt with in date and time received and are for a maximum of 4 tickets.

We will also require you to enter names and telephone numbers for those attending to comply with the governments Track & Trace policy.

FA Vase : Sunderland RCA v Shildon Tickets @shildon_afc

Due to the reduction in numbers of supporters allowed to attend we have been allocated 25 tickets for the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round match against Sunderland RCA on Saturday 10th October.

Platinum card & Season ticket holders are asked to apply via email only by 5pm Wednesday to programme@shildonafc.com with their Season Ticket number and requirement (Adult/Concession, 1 ticket per season ticket). The tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis by the time received. Please make the subject Sunderland RCA Tickets.

If there are any tickets remaining we will advise via Twitter and will ask for further applications again via email.

Payment will be required by bank transfer for any ticket bought. You will receive an email advising if you are successful with payment details.

Shildon 3 Bishop Auckland 0, match report by Adam Gill

Shildon 3-0 Bishop Auckland: Match Report

Shildon made it back-to-back wins as they defeated local rivals Bishop Auckland 3-0 at Dean Street in the Ebac Northern League.

Chay Liddle gave the home side the lead just seven minutes in before Kurt Matthews doubled Shildon’s lead on the hour mark.

Michael Sweet sealed the win late on in stoppage time to help his side pick up a crucial three points, as they cut the gap to league leaders North Shields.

The home side took the lead when Dean Thexton’s flick sent Liddle through on goal, before the midfielder smashed his effort into the roof of the net beyond Nick Liversedge.

Shildon almost doubled their advantage in the 51st minute, when Kurt Matthews picked up the ball in the Bishop box before firing just over the bar.

Sweet nearly scored soon after, when he picked up the ball out wide before driving infield and firing his effort just wide of the post.

Shildon did double their lead in the 60th minute, after Joe Posthill’s low cross was met by Matthews who tapped in from close range.

The game was sealed in stoppage time when David Palmer’s through ball sent Sweet bearing down on goal, before the striker placed his effort into the bottom corner.

Shildon travel to Ryhope C.W in their next match, whilst Bishop Auckland face a tough test as they face Hebburn Town away from home.

Covid-19 – Bar Risk Assessment Update

 

SHILDON AFC SOCIAL CLUB COVID 19 RISK ASSESSMENT

HAZARD – CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19)

WHO MIGHT BE AFFECTED – EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, VISITORS, CUSTOMERS

CONTROL MEASURES

1.   Separate exit and entrance doors to avoid crowding at these points.

2.   Doors to be kept open wherever possible to increase air flow

3.   Hand sanitiser to be available at all times at key locations

4.   Hygiene, directional signage and social distancing notices to be displayed for staff and customers.

5.   Tables to be spaced out, at least 2m apart and must not be moved by customers.

6.   Maximum capacity of the bar now set at 10 until further, all to be appropriately socially distanced according to household/support bubble. Tables must be booked prior to attending – please call Sue Charlton on 07443042862.

7.   All customers/visitors must sign in and provide contact details on arrival to support NHS Track and Trace system or scan the QR code on wall.

8.   Everyone MUST adhere to social distance guidelines in relation to other people or groups – People can only mix indoors with their own households or support bubble.

9.   Maximum occupancy number set for bar area is 10, when capacity is reached this will be displayed on entrance door and no further customers will be permitted entry.

10.   Contactless payment is preferred.

11.   The bar is not open to supporters, home players or the away team on Match days. A can bar will be operated from the kitchen hatch which is available to everyone. You must maintain social distance whilst in the queue. Food for the home players will be provided from the kitchen hatch.

12.   Number of employees behind bar/kitchen area to be limited

13.   No smoking allowed beside entrance or exit. No vaping permitted in the bar.

14.   Enhanced hand wash routines implemented and reminders displayed in all areas

15.   Sanitising of touch points front and back of house regularly and at least every hour

16.   No queuing or standing at the bar – table service will be provided. Glasses will be collected by staff from an allocated table and should not be returned to bar by customers

17.   Employees able to advise on social distancing.

18.   Staff excluded from work, based on Government guidance, should they display any symptoms of illness or if they are required to self isolate.

19.   Face masks and gloves available to staff and MUST be worn at all times

20.   Customers/visitors to the bar and hospitality areas MUST wear face coverings except when seated at a table to eat or drink.

21.   Staff to advise customers/visitors on the wearing of face coverings within the bar

22.   Return to work assessment of staff who have been absent due to illness or isolation to determine their fitness to return

23.   All staff to be made aware of known routes for the transmission of COVID 19 and social distancing to maintain their well-being and those they come into contact with. Back to back or side by side working to minimise exposure

24.   Employees advised to launder clothes worn for work at 60’C or to use a laundry sanitising agent

25.   One way system to be used by visitors and customers in the bar as defined by clear markings

26.   Visitors, contractors to be on premises by appointment only.

27.   Communication channels available for staff to ask questions and raise concerns to support their physical and mental health

28.   Strictly only staff permitted behind bar and in kitchen/cellar area at any time

29.   Tables to be cleaned between customers

30.   Cleaning regime implemented between opening times. Monitoring documents to be provided and completed when cleaning is carried out

31.   Adequate number of fully stocked soap, sanitiser and cleaning products to be available at all times

32.   Customers/visitors who do not comply with the house rules will be asked to leave immediately and consideration made to future permitted entry.

33.   Toilets to be used on a strict one in, one out basis.  Surface cleaner will be available in toilets should customers wish to use, in addition to staff cleaning regime.

34.   The playing of any games including dominoes, darts, cards, lottery draws, etc is not permitted.

35.   Bar area cleaning routine to be adhered to by staff during shift times.

36.   Under 18’s are only allowed entry if accompanied by an adult at all times or unless a specific event has been organised.

37.   Booking of tables will be available

38.   The risk assessment to be reviewed on a weekly basis or with immediate effect of new Government guidance

Shildon 5 Seaham Red Star 3, Match Report by Adam Gill

Shildon 5-3 Seaham Red Star: Match Report

Shildon returned to winning ways in the Ebac Northern League as they overcame Seaham Red Star at Dean Street.

Goals from Thomas Bott and Alex White saw the game was level after 20 minutes, before Nathan Greenwood scored in the 23rd minute to give Seaham a half-time lead.

Joe Posthill, Danny Craggs, Jack Vaulks and Dean Thexton gave Shildon a three goal cushion, before Paul Gardiner pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to play.

The Railwaymen held on for the win, which sees them move up to fourth in the league, whilst Seaham sit in 15th.

The away side took the lead in the 17th minute, when Bott was left unmarked from a corner before picking up the loose ball and smashing his volley home beyond Matthew Bateman.

Shildon responded three minutes later, when Posthill’s deflected effort fell into the path of White, who directed his header past Andrew Jennison.

Seaham went ahead soon after, when Greenwood saw his initial header saved by Bateman, leaving him to tap home the rebound from only a few yards out.

Posthill pulled his side level, when he picked up the ball out wide, before driving inside and firing his effort hard and low towards the near post.

Shildon were awarded a penalty on the hour mark, which Craggs stepped up to take and dispatch into the bottom corner.

The hosts extended their lead in the 67th minute when Vaulks got on the end of Craggs’ corner kick to head his side in front.

Shildon scored their fifth of the night when Jack Naylor’s cross found Thexton in the box, who headed home beyond Jennison.

Seaham pulled a goal back two minutes later, when Gardiner found himself unmarked on the edge of the box, before finishing low into the bottom corner.

Shildon face Bishop Auckland at home in their next match, whilst Seaham welcome Newton Aycliffe.
