DCC Semi Final Result | Hartlepool United 0 Shildon 2

Shildon will play South Shields in the final of the Durham Challenge Cup.

Billy Greulich-Smith gave Shildon the lead after 19 minutes heading in a corner from Matty Robson. Nathan Steel & Brad Hird both had chances to extend the lead but they were saved by the Hartlepool keeper.

Hartlepool put Shildon under pressure in the second half but it was Brad Hird who finished well to give Shildon the 2-0 victory.

South Shields beat Dunston 3-1 in the other semi-final.

10 man Sunderland RCA took all three points against Shildon at Dean Street

Kyle Davis gave RCA the perfect start after 3 minutes with a neatly taken goal. 20 minutes later Kyle was given a straight red after a foul on Matty Robson.

9 minutes later Mark Davison scored to send RCA into the break 2-0 up.

Mark Davison added his second and RCA’s 3rd 15 minutes into the second half .

Ben Trotter then gave Shildon a lifeline with a tap in 4 minutes later and in the 93rd minute Aidan Heywood headed past Scott Pocklington to make it 3-2. 2 minutes later Pocklington produced an outstanding save to deny Ben Trotter a second an secure the points for RCA

Shildon took all 3 points away to league leaders Consett

Zak Atkinson scored his first goal for the club since his move from Ashington after 2 minutes to give the visitors the perfect start.

Billy Greulich-Smith scored his 5th goal in his last 6 games to seal the win after 66mins heading in from a few yards out. Nathan Steel could of made it 3 but former Shildon stopper Kyle Hayes saved in the 92nd minute.

Billy Greulich-Smith scored with a header in the final minute of the first half to give Shildon a half time lead.

Aidan Heywood then doubled the lead 3 minutes after the restart with a low shot to the goalkeepers right. Heywood then scored the goal of the game half way through the second half with a shot from outside the box that flew into the top corner.

With 15 mins left Kevin Hayes scored to reduce the deficit with another shot from outside the box but that was how the game ended with 3-1 victory to Shildon.

Shildon food bank wins thanks to football club

Our football club has spent weeks collecting items donated by fans to give to a local foodbank run by Shildon Alive.

Shildon AFC treasurer Diane Dent along with director Norman Smith and captain Ben Trotter, have spent the weeks running up to Christmas raising the awareness of the need for essential food items,to give to families over the seasonal period.

The club has collected over £400 of essentials which has been matched by their sponsor, homes and communities organisation Livin.

Diane Dent said : ”we are a community club and we are delighted that with the help of our club sponsors Livin, we’ve been able to help those in our community that need it most, especially at this time of year. We hope to do more for our community in the coming months and years”

Zara Duncanson, Shildon Alive volunteer said, “we are so overwhelmed and grateful for the donations, they will go along way to helping a lot of people this Christmas.”

FA VASE RESULT | Shildon 2 Sunderland RCA 3

Shildon are out of the FA Vase after a 3-2 defeat against Sunderland RCA.

Shildon controlled most of the 1st half and deservedly took the lead when Daniel Moore struck a shot low into the bottom corner.

In the second half Sunderland RCA upped the tempo and took the lead. First Page rounded Newbrook in the Shildon goal to level, then O’Neill gave Sunderland RCA the lead. Aaron Duell then leveled for the home side with a shot from outside the box with 8 minutes remaining.

In the 94th minute of the game, Shildon gave away a free kick just outside the box, eventually the ball landed at the feet of Davis who shot past Newbrook.

The same 4-1 scoreline as last season gave Dunston victory at Dean Street.

Liam Marrs opened the scoring on 10 mins heading past Newbrook in the Shildon goal. 3 minutes later Marc Ellison leveled from the Penalty spot after Danny Earl was fouled in the area. Michael Pearson restored the the lead just before the break after a mix up in the Shildon defence.

In the second half Fitzpatrick added a further 2 goals to make the final score Shildon 1 Dunston UTS 4

Shildon moved to 2nd in the League with a 2-0 victory away to Sunderland RCA.

New Signing Leon Carling made his debut following his move from Marske United.

Player/Manager Daniel Moore scored his fourth goal in two games to give Shildon the lead half way through the second half. In the final minute of the game Shaun Newbrook produced an outstanding save to keep the lead intact and from the clearance Brad Hird was judged to of been fouled in the box. Matty Robson stepped up to make it 2-0.

Next game is the FA Vase 1st Round game against Glasshoughton Welfare on October 13th.
