Thanks from Shildon Alive & Shildon AFC

Following our appeal during the week for donations to Shildon Alive we are pleased and grateful for the  response from those attending our game on Saturday against Lincoln United.

Paula Nelson, Project Co-ordinator from Shildon Alive said “A massive thanks to all of the supporters, staff and directors of Shildon AFC for the extremely generous donation of food for our crisis support parcels.  Many folk are really struggling at the moment and often come to us hungry and low. Your acts of kindness means we can help them in a very practical way and make them feel supported by their community.”

David Dent, Chairman of Shildon AFC said “We are proud of our relationship with Shildon Alive and as a community club we are delighted that through our supporters, staff & players, we’ve been able to help those in our community that need support.”

Construction Works at Dean Street

There are currently building works being undertaken at Dean Street for the community garden and the new changing block.

This means that there are a number of excavations around the ground.

There have been a several instances over the past few days, where children have been accessing the ground – this is obviously unsafe for them and causes issues for the club.

Please ensure that you remind children that Dean Street is private property and is currently unsafe to access unsupervised.

Thank you.

David Palmer leaves the Railwaymen

Shidon AFC can confirm that David Palmer has agreed a move to Northern Football League Division One side North Shields FC.  David joined Shildon from Seaham Red Star in October 2018 and was part of the teams that won the Durham Challenge Cup in 2019, and gained promotion to the Northern Premier League East for the 2021/22 season.  We wish David well for the future and thank him for all his efforts at Shildon AFC.

Alex White Pens New Deal

Shildon centre half Alex White has signed a new contract until the end of the 23/24 Season.

Alex has made 25 appearances for Shildon over the last 2 seasons (chipping in with 3 goals).  Much of his first season with Shildon (4 appearances) was lost due lack of games because of the pandemic and a serious injury from which he is now fully recovered.  Alex has become an integral part of the squad in our first season in the Northern Premier League East and an important part of the future plans of the Club.

Stockton Town FC and Shildon AFC – A Joint Statement

Statement from Stockton Town FC

At the end of last Saturdays fixture between our two clubs both clubs were made aware of an alleged comment made by a single spectator during the second half. The referee had been made aware at the time.

The alleged comment was directed towards a Shildon player and this is unacceptable in any society and the player is offended by the comments and the two clubs fully support his viewpoint on this, it is totally unacceptable.

Stockton Town wish to make their position very clear on this matter. The club will not tolerate any behaviour that could be deemed to cause offence to an individual, group or other club and would request that everyone associated with the club in any capacity thinks before expressing themselves as to the offence that may be caused.

We have taken advice on the matter from support organisation’s and the local FA to ensure we understand the support that is available and intend to work with Shildon to both identify the individual responsible and ensure the message from both clubs is clear and concise and no one is left in any doubt moving forward of both clubs expectations.

Statement from Shildon AFC

We at Shildon AFC pride ourselves as being inclusive and won’t tolerate racial abuse of any form.

We are pleased that Stockton Town share this view and we have worked closely with them since the incident at our recent game with them on New Years Day when one of our players was racially abused.

Both Clubs are currently working with the FA to ensure that their investigations are thorough and transparent and we are sharing information to help identify the individual concerned, following which appropriate action will be taken against them.

We are also working with Kick It Out to help educate our supporters, staff and players as to what is acceptable and to promote equality and diversity at our games.

We are also looking to take some of this learning into our games and at the next games between the Clubs supporters, staff and players will be reminded of what is acceptable and what will not be tolerated.

Both Clubs have a zero tolerance approach to racism and we will take some of the lessons from this really unfortunate event into our next game.

We will draw any abuse immediately to the attention of the referee and hopefully play will be stopped until the offenders are removed from the ground.

Any supporter found to be guilty of committing racial abuse will be banned from our respective clubs.
